SolusVM v2 - Upgrade time?

This busy thread seeks opinions on SolusVM v2 and asks whether it's time to upgrade yet. Whilst it might not be fully ready it seems that it's being actively worked on with 1 or 2 features still in the pipeline. And with the end of CentOS what are the recommendations for operating systems? Are there any preferences for Debian or AlmaLinux? It doesn't take long for the thread to include suggestions that alternatives might be better or worse than SolusVM with Virtualizor, Proxmox and VirtFusion getting early mentions. Some have already upgraded, others say they'll wait and look again a few months down the line. As an administrator or user, what's your take? Is SolusVM version 2 ready for production, or at least testing?

Bing AI doesn't know any reseller hosts in France, Germany or NL

Carina posed a question to Bing AI: "According to reviews, what would be a reliable hosting company offering Reseller Hosting in France, Germany or Netherlands, with a control panel other than cPanel / WHM?" Bing's reply was: "I’m sorry, but I couldn’t find any specific information about reliable hosting companies offering Reseller Hosting in France, Germany or Netherlands with a control panel other than cPanel/WHM. Would you like me to search for something else?". Initial replies in the thread set out other ways to search for hosting, but should we be addressing the lack of results from search engines? With the plethora of commission-driven reviews, which may or may not be biased by financial rewards, unbiased sites like WHT, which scrutinize and verify reviews, are important for those looking for hosting. Bing indexes WHT regularly, so why does their AI not know about European resellers? Do we simply need more reviews from customers?

News from around the hosting industry

Our Industry News section is the place to find current headlines from around the world of hosting and infrastructure, but other general interest threads pop up in other sections of the forum, especially The Lounge. Here we we highlight just some of the interesting news items from around the forum:

  • Lumen launches 400G IP transit in US and EMEA - They're one of the first to launch 400G IP transit ports across their network in the US and Europe Middle East and Africa. These newly unveiled 400G IP transit ports give businesses, hyperscalers and content providers ultra-high bandwidth connections to support large IP transit needs. Lumen has been making a lot of investments in its network, with the expansion of its US intercity dark fiber network, and then the build out of its 400G wavelength network in Europe and the US.
  • VMware's Cross-Cloud makes building managed services faster - Announcing its Cross-Cloud services, enabling partners to expand their managed services practices. The company said the offering, built on its 4,000-strong cloud service provider ecosystem, "will make building managed services faster for partners and easier to consume by customers." The new services combine prescriptive solutions – VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for hybrid cloud and VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for Native Public Cloud and Modern Apps.
  • Cologix finances data center expansion in Canada - The North American hyperscale edge data center company announced that it closed the issuance of $195M CAD in secured notes through a private placement transaction with a syndicate of institutional investors earlier this month. The new secured notes have a fixed interest rate and will provide additional liquidity to expand capacity in Cologix's ScalelogixSM and digital edge data center portfolio in the Canadian market, including Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
  • Microsoft invests almost $100M for midwest data centers - They've agreed to buy a $50M, 315-acre parcel of land in Wisconsin and build a $1B data center. The land was meant for Foxconn but the world's largest electronics manufacturer failed to fulfill its plans to build a facility. Microsoft also paid $42M last month for an industrial site in Chicagoland. The acquisition is adjacent to the 53-acre site where Microsoft plans to build two 207,000-square-foot data centers, both of which have been approved and one that is under construction.
