Fake license providers

Long time WHTer kikloo shares the concerns of many that, whilst he always pays the going rate for licences, a growing number of sites are appearing that offer cheap "shared" licences and are causing less scrupulous hosts to undercut hosting prices by using these dubious alternatives. When customers come around to renewal time they compare prices and question how other hosts are reducing prices when, at the same time, genuine licence costs are increasing. So, while certain licence providers are increasing their prices annually, should it also be their responsibility to go after these dodgy licence vendors? After all, it's also their income that is being damaged. As a host, or a customer, what are your views on who should be challenging these dishonest sites, enforcing copyrights, and educating hosting customers?

Are website builders the right way to go?

A new member has started a thread asking for recommendations of web hosts who have a nice drag-and-drop website builder. Whilst these tools are great for new customers who may not have previous experience of putting a website together, some of our members are quick to caution that complications may arise in the future when the customer decides that it's time to move to a different host. Whilst website builders have many attractive features, they make it far more difficult to migrate a site designed with them to another host who doesn't support that builder. Several of the larger hosts offer these bespoke builders and, possibly, one of the reasons is to reduce churn. What are your experiences of providing or using custom website builders, or do you prefer to use popular CMS like WordPress which make sites more transportable?
