WordPress performance issues

Aincite uses a webhost that runs on Lightspeed and Installatron. So far everything is rather OK but he has been noticing delays when sites are made with WordPress, often 2-3 seconds delay in initial load. On one particular site there are some RSS loading so he figured it could be due to that, but it happens with all the WordPress sites hosted there, with or without caching, and with or without loading external sources. He knows people who have moved away from this particular webhost and experienced a significant improvement in WordPress performance in doing so, not only due to diverse cache plugins, like LightSpeed Cache, but an overall performance boost. How does he tackle this? He likes this webhost and says they are great, but they seem to be unable to pin down what exactly in their configuration is causing this weird performance issue with WordPress. He also hosts some html only sites, some phpBB sites and some web albums with lots of heavy images, and those seem unaffected. Can you recommend some ways for Aincite to gather data about the sites responsiveness, preferably some free or cheap way since it is only temporary, so that he can present this data and help his webhost to diagnose and fix this?

IP blacklist removal

An IP address of one of irexta's servers was blacklisted due to the activities of one of their customers. His WordPress site got hacked due to his use of a nulled plugin and the hacker then used the server to send hundreds of thousands of spam emails. As a result, the server IP address was blacklisted by Spamhaus. Due to this incident, the host removed the entire website at the customer's request and temporarily removed the hosting account related to the domain name. Even though they whitelisted the IP address several times, it is repeatedly blacklisted by Spamhus, and they'd like to know why. Is there any other alternative solution for this and is there a limited number of times you can whitelist in Spamhaus?

  • Bank collapses - Do they affect you? With news of Silicon Valley Bank, Silvergate, Signature and Credit Suisse bank collapses and rescue packages it's fair to assume that there's a degree of nervousness in the banking industry, and worries about how this may effect other banks, financial services, businesses and consumers. How does this affect you, and the hosting industry more widely?
  • Pentagon awarding $9B cloud contract soon - The Pentagon will shortly be making its first awards under the $9 billion Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability contract as interest in commercial cloud services booms, according to the Defense Information Systems Agency. The Defense Department selected Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Oracle for the closely watched JWCC contract, a follow-up to the failed $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure arrangement. The cloud capability is meant to serve as a backbone for the Pentagon's connect-everything-everywhere campaign, known as Joint All-Domain Command and Control, or JADC2.
  • Stack to supplement Switzerland with power - Stack Infra will provide backup power capacity to the Swiss energy reserve as the government of Switzerland prepares for possible energy shortages during winter. They have committed to provide capacity using its existing emergency generators, which can be requested by the Swiss grid to increase the security of power. Backup power generator owners are encouraged to contribute to the reserve between February and April.
  • Telxius boosts DDoS mitigation - Telxius has boosted DDoS mitigation with the addition of new scrubbing centers in Latin America, located in Peru and Brazil, adding to existing mitigators in the US and Europe. The Telxius network spans over 82,000km of high-capacity submarine cables, including seven next-generation systems.
