We would like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends!

New to WHT, vintagebob has a WordPress site with relatively low traffic and hosted on a basic linux shared package, "nothing too fancy" as he puts it. He's been considering switching to a host that specifically offers "WordPress hosting" which allegedly is optimised for WordPress. He's hoping that such hosting would offer a little more in the way of a zippier website, although he's aware that CMS-based sites tend to be a little slower. He asks if these packages are worth bothering with or what else he could be considering in a shared package that can get the best out of his WordPress site. And, in terms of any recommendations, he's hoping to host in the UK or nearby such as the Netherlands. So, is WordPress hosting, as advertised by some hosts, really a thing, or is it a marketing ploy? What makes WordPress specific hosting different from regular shared hosting? Share your thoughts and experiences in the thread.

Hot off the press this month, Gabe's server parts pricing report for November 2022 is now available. Starting in 2019, he's been tracking and reporting on changing parts prices for RAM, SSDs, Hard Drives, CPUs, and various GPUs, and sharing it on WHT. He's continuing to gather all listed prices from eBay, prefering to focus on used hardware as these prices change more frequently and this gives a better feel for changes over time. Prices are as of 7th November 2022. Don't forget to check the "noteworthy changes" comments at the end of his report, which highlight variations that have been picked up on from the previous month, including in this month's report "noteworthy price drops among other parts, such as the Samsung PM863 1.92TB SATA, 14TB HDD, most DDR4 and DDR3 RAM types, and the Intel Xeon Platinum CPUs". If you want to see more parts added to the list, or have any feedback on how to make this report more useful, please let Gabe know in the thread!
