Why WordPress maxes out when a new post is made

A member using shared hosting notices that his WordPress maxes out resources whenever a new post is made. He's quick to point out the specifications of his hosting account, including that he only has 1 mb/s I/O which could be one of the main reasons for his issue. However, there may be other contributing factors, most likely resource-hungry plugins running in the background and eating up memory, something caching at the same time as the post is made, even an older PHP version not best tuned for low-memory setups. There are already several suggestions in the thread, including checking which plugins are eating resources, or even upgrading the hosting plan. So, for those readers that have experience in running WordPress on lean setups, what are your suggestions for this particular setup?

Using a third-party provider for outbound mail

One of our hosting provider members is looking for a way to use a third party to send his customers' outbound mail through from his cPanel/WHM server. He's looked at some of the well known providers like SendGrid or Mailgun, but they seem to only cater for single domain solutions where each domain has to be verified, and he'd like to route all his customers outbound mails, from multiple domains, out through such a service. MailChannels gets suggested in the thread, but the pricing seems on the high side. So what seems to be needed is a service that will accept all outbound mail from a server regardless of which domain on that server is sending the email. Do you have knowledge of such a solution?
